IKEBUKURO STATION! Oh, here comes the nostalgia attack. Our hotel was so awesomely situated (mind you, it was TINY and probably didn’t have any star rating to speak of) that this was just a 5-minute walk away. I remember taking the subway at around 11:00 in the evening from Disneyland and passing by drunk salarymen who could barely stand up. I remember buying hot sweet potatoes that a friendly Japanese vendor was selling at that late hour. I remember that Pachinko parlor that was right in front of our hotel and the odd electronic sounds that reverberated throughout the night. I do remember missing the comforts of home, but then again, not really.
Chances are I won’t be visiting Japan again anytime soon, so just let me have this moment of sappy, self-indulgent reminiscing.
